7:00 PM - 8:30 PM The Liar Show (Theater)

8:30 PM - 9:30 PM Reception (Cafe/Community Workspace)

The Made in NY Media Center by IFP with The (Dis)Honesty Project presents THE LIAR SHOW, a storytelling show where four performers will tell short personal stories that will surprise, delight, and possibly unnerve audiences – but listen closely, because only three of these people are telling the truth. The fourth is making it all up.

Join us for an evening adventure in storytelling where you'll not only pay heed to these fables, but you'll actually get a chance to interrogate each performer during a fact-finding question-and-answer portion of the show. Your ballots are cast, and once the Liar is revealed, perceptive audience members who have guessed correctly win an "I Can Tell A Lie" t-shirt and can revel in their geniusness.

A reception will follow the show featuring The (Dis)Honesty Project's TRUTH BOX, where attendees are invited to share their own stories about lying. Drinks provided by Barrier Brewing Co. (they may be “lying” to you about what is in their craft beer.

With stories from:

James Braly (This American Life; Marketplace)
Daniel Engber (Slate Magazine; Popular Science)
Tracy Rowland (Al Jazeera America; Moth GrandSlam)
Martin Dockery (Wanderlust, "Best Original Work" London Fringe)
Hosted by Andy Christie (The New York Times; CityScape)

Come experience what The Washington Post and The New York Times both herald as storytelling's "best bet" (Time Out NY):

“Prizes mean nothing compared with the sweet victory of being recognized as the savviest people in the room" – The Washington Post

"They can lie to me all night long" – The New York Times

The (Dis)Honesty Project explores the complicated truths of the matter in the upcoming documentary feature, (Dis)Honesty: The Truth About Lies, from bestselling author and behavioral scientist Dan Ariely and Yael Melamede at SALTY Features – producer of the Oscar winner, Inocente, and co-producer of nominee, My Architect.

THE LIAR SHOW is hosted by Andy Christie. His writing has appeared in The Moth Book,The New York Times and the Thomas Beller anthology Lost And Found: Stories From New York. His autobiographical stories have been featured on Peabody Award recipient The Moth Radio Hour and WFUV's Cityscape.
