First up: Chris Abbott!

Chris Abbott made his feature film debut in Martha Marcy May Marlene. Abbott's other notable films include Hello I Must Be GoingThe SleepwalkerJames WhiteFirst Man, and It Comes at Night.

On television, Abbott is known for his role as Charlie Dattolo in the HBO comedy-drama series Girls and for his role as Mason Tannetti in the first season of The Sinner. He can be seen on Hulu's new adaptation of Joseph Heller's acclaimed novel Catch-22, as the iconic John Yossarian, starting May 17.

Abbott has also had an extensive career on stage, having performed in both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

Back To One is an in-depth, actors-on-acting podcast from Filmmaker Magazine. Host Peter Rinaldi sits down with working actors to discuss their unique process, psychology, and approach to the craft. No small talk, no celebrity stories, no inane banter—just the work.

Past guests include Ethan Hawke, Kathryn Hahn, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Willem Dafoe, and more!

Peter Rinaldi is an award-winning filmmaker and writer in New York City and a graduate of School of Visual Arts. His short films have screened around the world from Anthology Film Archives in New York to The Max Ophüls Film Festival in Germany. He has written about film and acting for Filmmaker Magazine, Fandor, Mubi Notebook, and Film International. In 2018 he started the Back To One podcast where he’s interviewed dozens of working actors about their craft. He plays himself (with great struggle) in Caveh Zahedi’s acclaimed series The Show About The Show.
