As part of IFP Week 2019, the Made in NY Media Center is proud to present Thread Through The Eye, a collection of works from interdisciplinary creative duo LoVid.

Thread Through The Eye is an installation of LoVid videos that combine digital, analog, and handmade processes. LoVid’s production tools include homemade audio/video synthesizers and historical analog A/V instruments, as well as digital editing and animation software.  LoVid’s videos are absorbing and hypnotic, alternating between hallucinogenic dream-like states and brittle abrasive sounds with flickering patterns. The collection of videos in Thread Through The Eye reflects LoVid’s ongoing interest in digital tactility, viscerality and immersion, explored through creating interfaces between textile and video, craft and coding, handmade and machine-produced processes. The resulting amalgamations make for a complex arrangement of analog and digital, simulating texture and tactility while unfolding in the virtual world.

This exhibition has been made possible by Sedition.

About LoVid

Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus began collaborating as LoVid in 2000. An alchemy of independent interests in technology has defined LoVid's aesthetic, combining craft-oriented analog processes and playful engineering with natural and social science. LoVid's live performances, participatory public art works, immersive installations, and video and textile projects express the radiant noise of an electrified but human world.

LoVid's performances have been presented at the Museum of the Moving Image, Eyebeam, MoMA, PS 1, and The Kitchen; New York City; the Graham Foundation, Chicago; and FACT, UK, among many others. LoVid's videos have been screened in galleries, festivals, and events worldwide including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Netherlands; Modern Art Oxford, UK; Art in General, New York City; and the Siskel Theater, Chicago. The duo's installations and objects have been included in international solo and group exhibitions hosted by such venues as The Neuberger Museum, the Jewish Museum, New Museum, New York City.
