Digital Fairy Tales: Album One

Gallery 6–10pm
  • Regular FREE

Free wine and beer at the opening on 10/6 from 6-9pm, with curators and artists in attendance!

The Made in NY Media Center by IFP is thrilled to partner with Leo Kuelbs Collection to present seven brand new, fairy tale-based videos for our October show, Digital Fairy Tales: Album One.  Curated by Leo Kuelbs and Sandra Ratkovic, Digital Fairy Tales: Album One is a free flowing set of visuals + sound pieces inspired by old German tales collected by Xavier Schönwerth in the 19th century.  This presentation of these weird and wonderful tales will bring seemingly ancient archetypal contexts and references into the 21st century.
By creating this bridge through time, Digital Fairy Tales: Album One will reveal and enliven commonalities of the collective subconscious covering the 150-year period in question and beyond.  Through the use of digital media, notions of storytelling are allowed to evolve, just as they have throughout history. Digital Fairy Tales: Album One is yet another way to tell some of the oldest stories.
At the opening on October 6th, you can celebrate with some of the creative team behind the project! In addition to free wine and beer from 6-9 pm, we will hold a screening in our theater, followed by a discussion of the project with the artists and curators. Afterwards, you can have another look at the work on the Manhattan Bridge as part of the Light Year series.
