Keeping up with content at CCW+SATCON

By Zori Davidkova, Community Outreach Coordinator, Made in NY Media Center by IFP

Massive satellite towers, mobile editing trucks and “all-in-one” virtual reality studios were only a few of the marvels we stumbled upon as we set up shop at the Jacob Javitz Center and found ourselves in the epicenter of one of the largest and most powerful media, entertainment, video and communications technology conferences on the East Coast. On November 12th and 13th the Made in NY Media Center by IFP took advantage of the opportunity to check out new products, find potential partners, and explore new business models at CCW+SATCON.

The show-within-a-show brings together over 300 technology companies to exhibit their work and determine how to best serve content creators. Over 7,000 attendees were presented with a unique opportunity to receive a wealth of hands-on classes on Adobe Editing Suite, Final Cut Pro, Avid Workflow, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, and more. Friends from Adorama, Adobe, Cannon, and B&H were among some of the top companies bringing their teams to find suppliers, interact with new products, and acquire new technology solutions.

Main takeaways include:

1. Content is still the driving force behind the creative tech evolution

2. Satellites are fulfilling the worlds appetite for more bandwidth

3. Advances in the industry have lead to new features for cameras to produce stunning pictures in low lighting conditions

4. The FCC has made a number of declarative rulings in the past year that impact closed captioning requirements for online video

5. Cloud based TV operations are gaining a great deal of attention and the race is on for end-to-end television operation in the cloud
