    Jim Thomson is a product manager at Pivotal Labs, where he helps startups and large enterprise companies alike form great teams to build great digital products. Prior to his work at Pivotal, he was the first and only product manager at an early-stage health startup, and toured the country as a guitarist in the indie-rock band Le Loup.

    Branding Strategist and Consultant

    Terri Trespicio is a branding strategist and media personality who works with a range of individuals and businesses to help create compelling messaging that attracts an audience and drives business. A former senior editor at Martha Stewart, she’s also an in-demand speaker and recently delivered a TED talk at the largest TEDx event in the country on why to stop searching for your passion.

    Amron D’Silva is an experienced finance and investment professional with experience across accounting/finance, sell-side equity research and asset management. He is also an active angel investor and separately a founder of an angel group which invests globally. Amron is a co-founder of WE LOVE NUMBERS, which offers bookkeeping and accounting services to startups and small medium sized businesses.

    Nick Fortugno is a game designer and entrepreneur of digital and real-world games based in New York City, and a founder of Playmatics, a game development company. Nick teaches game design and interactive narrative design at Parsons The New School of Design, and has participated in the construction of the school’s game design curriculum.

    What is the Made in NY Media Center by IFP?

    The Made in NY Media Center by IFP is a new kind of co-working space and exhibition venue designed to connect the next generation of artists, innovators and entrepreneurs through education, events and industry resources. We are building a community operating at the intersection of storytelling and technology, where visionaries, storytellers and entrepreneurs are working together to transform the creative process. The 20,000-square-foot facility in DUMBO features co-working spaces, a talent incubator, a 72-seat screening room, media arts gallery and café in addition to dedicated spaces for classes, conferences, meetings and tenancy.

    What is the time commitment for the program?

    The program will begin on June 6, and go through the week of July 27. Participants will meet weekly for classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. with additional office hours with Experts-in-Residence, study group sessions, happy hours, and other industry related networking events sprinkled throughout the week.

    This program is envisioned for those who have the idea for a creative endeavor in the entrepreneurial realm that they believe has the potential to grow into a sustainable business model. From gamers, to filmmakers, content platforms, to multimedia journalists, this program is for you – those who are defining the future of the media.

    What will this cost me and what will I have access to?

    The lab costs $1,400 per participant.
    The first three applicants receive early bird pricing at $1,200 per participant. Media Center members get a special discounted price after contacting their Community Engagement team. All participants have access to:

  • 8 weeks of workshops led by leaders in the field
  • Made in NY Media Center Community Workspace membership allowing access to our co-work community from 9am- 7pm throughout weekdays
  • One-on-one office hours with Experts-in-Residence of the Made in NY Media Center by IFP
