How do you make a living out of screenwriting? And build a sustainable career around your voice? In this course, you will explore the dynamics of positioning a project effectively in the market by using your distinctive voice. You will gain insight into the career path of professional screenwriters and the opportunities that are out there.

Instructor Ingrid Jungermann (Women Who Kill) will home in on the writing process itself and how to write realistic, compelling scripts. She will share with you, her own strategies to get a project notice and sold. Additionally, she will lead a Q&A session with other established screenwriters to broaden your perspective on this profession.

This class is part of ClassWork Narrative Filmtrack. Take four narrative film classes for $490 (regular price) or $320 (IFP/Media center members).

    Ingrid Jungermann

    Ingrid co-created the web series THE SLOPE and created the WGA-Nominated web series F TO 7TH, featuring Amy Sedaris, Michael Showalter, Gaby Hoffmann, Olympia Dukakis and Janeane Garofalo. Her work has screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, Outfest and BFI London. Ingrid, who earned her MFA at NYU Graduate Film School, was one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 Faces of Independent Film and Out Magazine’s 100 People of the Year. Her debut feature, WOMEN WHO KILL (Tribeca All Access program, IFP Emerging Narrative Labs), premiered in competition at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, where she won the Jury Award for Best Screenplay. She was nominated for the Independent Spirit Someone to Watch Award in 2017 and Best First Feature in 2018 and is a Sundance FilmTwo fellow.
