One year ago, we welcomed the first cohort of the Made in NY fellows and grantees. In the past 12 months, they have collaborated with each other in projects like AXS Map, launched new platforms such as Emerging Market Views and they have built connections that will be essential to reach success.
Our space is built on the idea of collaboration, and we absolutely love to see the alliances made between our fellows and grantees. After all, the Made in NY Fellowships and Grants were created to foster the diversity of our city’s exciting media and technology landscape. This unique opportunity emerged from a partnership between the Made in NY Media Center by IFP, the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
This is how our grantee Vassiliki Khonsari, founder of inkStories, recalls her experience in our space:
“The Made in NY Media Center by IFP is a unique buzzing hive of support — fostering creative, unique voices in New York City — it is the crucial glue that brings an innovation community together. As fellows of the Incubation Lab, we at iNK Stories greatly benefit from the reliable and impassioned support, as we push on the boundaries of narrative interactive storytelling in games and VR.”
Hearing these stories motivates us to keep supporting projects and startups through different resources so they can establish themselves and succeed. Tomorrow, November 16th at 9:30 am, we will gather all our fellows and grantees for their final presentation where they will talk about how their projects have evolved since they joined the Media Center. This is an event that is open to the public and a fantastic opportunity to see what our members have been doing, and to learn where the future of media and technology is going. This is a free event and you are more than welcome to join us! You can register here.
Also, stay tuned because in the upcoming days we will announce which companies and projects were selected to be part of the second cohort of the Made in NY Fellowships. These projects are from diverse disciplines, such as VR and AR to film and gaming.
